My daughter and i are trying to get her ready to use the potty, and she loves to use the potty, but it seems liek she will do fantastically one day and horribly the next. when we are at home i let her run around ether barebum or with a thick pair of undies (depending upon the clean supply of undies) and it seems that she jsut doesnt' want to tell me that she wants to go to the potty some days. When she does do this however i get really excited wiht her and we both clap our hands and say "yey" and its jsut a really fun time. she seems to really enjoy it, so now i'm at a stand still how to keep her progressing, instead of making messes on our floors all day. any ideas?

someone noted that they'd liek to knwo her age.... she will be turning two next month, and i guess also i shoudl add that i have beenw roking wiht her on this for about 3 weeks now... and she has been introduced to the idea over the last few months. (just by showing her the potty and letting her sit on it once in a while) and when it comes to messes... she does try to help. she'll grab the closest towel and start rubbing it up, (its actually kinda cute..lol shes such a lil neat freak)

Here it is- it has worked for my 2 kids, and others after I tell them........

1. get m and m's handy
2. get a small potty chair
3. get a couple books about potty
4. you need to be home for about 4-5 days straight
5. now you can start. let them run around bare-but
6. Set the timer for 1/2 hour. Tell him/her to sit on the potty for 5 min. (read them a book in the mean time if it's to long for them.) If they go, give lots and lots of praise!!! I mean go crazy!! Give them about 3 m and m's.
7. Set the timer for 1/2 hour
8. Avoid asking the question "you got to go potty?'
9. Timer goes off- ok! What does that mean junior? Time to go potty again he or she would say, or you say it if they don't
10. repeat process all day long. If they go # 2 in the potty, reward with a handful of m and m's. They are very colorful and kids love them!!

11. Praise praise praise. I do spank my kids for behavior problems such as lying, disobedience, and bad attitudes, but never for having an accident. If there is an accident, clean it up queitly, and don't say much at all. Remind them it's ok, but try to make it in the potty next time, or in your own words.

Good luck!!! Hope this helps you. My girl was potty-trained in two days with the method. Took my 2 1/2 year old son a week. Leave pull-ups on them at night just in case.
p.s. if this doen't work at all, try again in a few months.

Just relax.
All kids start using the potty when they are ready. It doesn't matter what you do, they won't go until they are ready. Just keep asking your daughter if she needs to use it, give her small rewards and act all excited when she does use it (which is pretty much what you are doing already). Other than that .... just wait.
Trust me, she will be using the potty before you know it.

It wouls help to know how old our daughter is. Put her on the potty every half hour or so, and remind her that mommy uses the toilet too. I just potty trained my daughter, and one thing that really worked for me was taking her shopping for "big girl panties." Not the thick ones, the pretty girly ones. She was really excited to pick them out and wear them. good luck.

I put some fave books in the bathroom and every hour we went in the potty and read one whole book. Sometimes he would pee.. sometimes we just read. But there were less accidents because we went often.

Also we used stickers. The stickers themselves are rewards but we also rewarded him after getting 10 stickers with candy, 20 stickers with ice cream, and 30 stickers with a little toy.

Good Luck!

Children work at their own speed. If they aren't ready then don't force them it will eventually happen. If it isn't working right now then i would say go ahead and put a diaper back on and when they are ready, they will let you know. let them decide.i promise this works, it might be frustrating but it will happen and don't worry about what other people say about how your kid should be trained by now..it is completely up to your child...just be patient.

my friend makes her kid clean it up herself (she goes back over with actual cleaning spray later). It enforces in the kid's mind that it's a mess and annoying and gross. He gets disgusted and remembers better to use the toilet, not the toy box or floor.
