Volunteer! Even a small town has needs. Local Library, local schools, local nursing home/hospital, church. Even get a bunch of your friends and help clean/repair the local park or playground. Find out what national parks may be nearby for hiking. Ask for a digital camera next holiday/christmas and start taking pictures. There are plenty of things to do for FREE that could lead to experiences to put on a resume or just plain make you feel good.
