Are they too lazy to ask for and find an elevator? Do they consider what would happen if their child fell out of the stoller while on the escalator? Have they considered what would happen to the people behind them on the escalator if the stroller got seriously stuck and they couldn't get it loose?

I work on the second floor of a department store. Trust me: I see this EVERY DAY!!! And when I approach the parent, half the time they go to the elevator the other half I'm snarled at and told "I do this all them time and I've never had a problem." And I'm not allowed to snarl back "It only takes ONCE MORON!" I so wish I could, I really do!

Because they are lazy and have never actually seen first hand how a faulty or damaged escalator can mangle your child into hamburger?

They have one liike that recently dubed "Jaws" in our local mall. A child was just pulled out and they shut it down...

I do it BUT I hold one side up and my husband holds the other, so it isn't on the Escalator. But the Comment about the Kids falling out, that's what the seat belt thing is there for maybe people should learn how to use that. and it has nothing to do with being lazy, if your in a hurry and The Elevator is all the way down at the other side of the mall or something and you just don't have time to go to it. and plus have the time there is no room on them because the REAL LAZY people are using it when they have no reason to.

My husband and I just had this conversation yesterday at Target when we saw stollers on the escalator. While two other families took their strollers on the escalator, we went to the elevator.
I think people are too lazy to find an elevator. They also seem to be the same people who leave their kids in the shopping cart escalator at those two story stores that have the big elevators to accomodate those shopping carts! The signs by the escalators clearly state to not leave children in the carts.

I have always wondered the same thing. I never take our stroller on the escalator it is just too dangerous. Some people are just too lazy to walk to the elevator or else they don't worry about what could happen to their children.

I hear u, i never do that mainly because my head thinks of all the bad things that can go wrong, u cant be lazy when u have kids, for their health, sake, and well being u can not do littlestuff like that, that can have a huge and bad impact in ur childs life. I guess they are lazy and dont think about the consequences untill it's too late.

They might be in a hurry and not think about the danger. I have actually seen warning signs that say no strollers next to the escalators

Sheer laziness and ignorance that this could cause an unfortunate accident. Someone needs to come up with some tragic decals.

Unfortunately, a lot of parents don't even think about it. Just like a lot of other things parents do, such as set half-full beer bottles in reach of their kids, smoke in the house with their kids, leave them in the hot car while they run in "for just a quick sec." I see things like this constantly, and it drives me crazy! I just want to rescue the child!
