Well, if he is a puppy he won't lift his leg for awhile. Mine didn't start lifting his leg until he was 13 months old and he still doesn't lift it all the time. When I was younger we had a female poodle who lifted her leg all the time. Don't know why but I think it was because whe was brought up around other male dogs.

That all depends on how old the dog is. Most puppies do not lift their legs until they get older. (could take up to a year.) If you have the dog neutered it might not lift its leg after wards. Or if it is an old dog it might not lift its leg due to arthritis, or hip and back problems. If he seems to be in good health other then not lifting his leg, I wouldn't worry about it. If you think he has a problem, take him to the vet, just to be sure. Good luck.

It could mean that he is a submissive dog. I have seen male puppies and submissive male dogs squat or give half a leg raise when they urinate. I have also seen dominant female dogs lift their leg and mark repeatedly.

My dog used to when I got him, but he learned from my older male dog to lift his leg. I think in his previous home they were all females, and he copied them.

My dog lifts his leg sometimes, and sometimes he doesn't. I think this varies from dog to dog.

They hike to show dominance. My female hikes when she is trying to pee where a male peed.

why dont you teach him----no, seriously, it will come in time. how old is the "fleabag" if he's not matured in age. jus be patient--if he' and old guy the you have a structual problem like athritis or weakness in his legs that you are not aware of
