It is possible...believe it or not. My female cockatiel tells me when she needs to go. She is 22yrs old now, but when she was@9 I trained her to go by holding her over the toilet and saying "go potty for momma". Now, this was possible because she was trying to lay eggs and when she would try and go it would be very painful and stressful, I tried this just as a way of keeping her calm but it stuck...years later, she still prances when she has to go, we go to the bathroom, or the cage and i tell her to go potty...she does everytime.

Yes, it is possible to potty train a pet bird, but it takes a lot of time and patience. I attempted to potty train my yellow-collared macaw, but the end result is that he will only avoid pottying when he's on my shoulder - not anyone else's. I'm giving a link to the instructions for how to do it.

I have a Sun Conure and a Yellow PerlTiel.
The conure was very quick to learn to poopie in the cage and he makes it known when he needs to go. He will get very actave. Not playful actave but running around and starts getting loud. I just take him to his cage or put him down outside and he goes and shakes his wings at me to pick him back up. He is about 18 months old. but he talks a little too. Smart bird even knows when he is told to go home and heads back to his cage.
The tiel is having a little harder problem teaching me when he needs to go. He is starting to make a little noise and will tilt his head to the floor and lift his wings when he needs to go and I take him to his cage. he is about 7 months old. But he will forget to let me know and just poop where ever he is standing. So we are still working on it.

Nope.
Birds can't "hold it" like other animals can. When they have to go, it just comes out.
There are diapers you can get. The company calls them "flight suits". They have a leash so you can take the bird outdoors safely.
Look here for the flight suits. www.flightquarters.com
good luck

I've had cockatiels for 26 years and I've tried. They just don't get it.

YES-
Put it on newspaper and after it goes (on the paper) praise him, and just don't give praise if they go somewhere else.
