any experience of losing their bird? Today I lost my parakeet named Princess. It hurts a lot, I know that. She was outside, wings clipped but still able to fly a little and next time I checked inside the bushes, where she plays with the other three parakeets, she wasn't there. I've been trying to look for her, but she's no where to be found. Very painful.

Ok, what is the point if you clip your bird's wings, if you're not gonna let them out. You people are cruel.

We just lost our Cockateal, "Elvis", a couple weeks ago. He was 12, he was a member of the family since a baby and is missed dearly. We use to get up to his whistling every morning. Elvis eat some petunias and we figured he was poisoned by them. He loved the outdoors and we had him a special hanger surrounded by flowers so he could be as close to nature as a caged bird could be. This was the first year he eat the petunias, our flowers did wonderful this year and grew too close to his cage, plus we never dreamed they would poison him nor that he would eat them to begin with. Elvis was very particular what he ate. Everything I read pertaining to his breed of bird indicated his life span was 12 to 15 years in general, didn't help a whole lot in thinking we might have been partial to blame for his sudden death. Still, we miss him every day. We had another bird that was his friend, he had his own cage, that we think misses him as much as we humans do and we're thinking of getting another to keep "BJ" company. Sorry about your loss and maybe she still might be around just temporarily in another bush.

You let your parakeets OUTSIDE!? It's no wonder you lost her! I would NEVER let my parakeets outside without a cage, even if their wings were clipped!

The main reason being their own safety!!!

if she's not chirpping on the ground or there about-- you may have lost your "lil princess" to a sparrow hawk or a goss hawk, or a cooper kawk or maybe a snake, since they are predators and your "lil princess do not have the ability to fly away from such disaster if it should arise----so who' to blame for clipping her flight feathers sorry--- but face the facts
