Well, it depends on which part of the city. New Orleans has always had problems with crime, but its really not that bad right now. As you probably know, the media makes the worst of everything. I always love the French Quarter, and the businesses there are open and needing customers. =D I think that the Aquarium of Americas is open again. That place is right along the Mississippi River. It's really neat.
You'll be fine. Have a fun visit!

Go and have fun. there are a lot of businesses open in the quarter with more opening all the time. the quarter is safe and a great hotel to stay at is Lerichelieu. It has onsite free parking and you can easily walk anywhere you want in the quarter. Go see the aquarium or the zoo. Eat lots of good food.

i just came back from there, it was the first time after the storm.
i cannot believe all the trash and trailers everywhere. it seems like they have forgotten the 9th ward i have pic .it is such a shame and all the housing in the east it is like a black out no lights.everything closes early, not sure about the french quarter. be very careful as the crime rate is raising.it showed on fox news about all the killings last week.JUST STAY SAFE.

Please support New Orleans. The area of uptown and the French Quarter is up and running and needs business as much as possible. The more people that come to the city the better.
