I would worry that this would give government an excuse to extend its tentacles into the running of the church to which I belong (the Roman Catholic Church) as well as other churches.
For instance, I would be very concerned that a "progressive" political party would take power -- and then start telling the RC Church that it has to ordain women priests, perform gay marriage ceremonies, and endorse legalized abortion.
"Separation of church and state" is not supposed to "protect" people from religion.
Rather, it's supposed to protect religion from government, and give every religious body the right to function according to its own doctrinal and moral teachings.
A lot of people today don't seem to realize that.

Which christian sect would be the one that would reign supreme?
If the US government made christianity a part of our system, it would tear christianity limb from limb.
More specifically, christians would tear each other limb from limb.
Imagine a public school where a Baptist teacher teaches the class that the Catholic Pope is the False Prophet.
Imagine a public school where a Jehovah's witness says that Methodists will burn in hell for their liberal ways.
Imagine a Mormon telling other christians that Christ visited native americans before he went to heaven.
Imagine some generic christian nutjob who says that Jews will burn in hell because they reject Christ.
The First Amendment, and the Separation of Church and state guaranteed by the Establishment Clause protects RELIGION from itself.
Christians, it's high time that you actually thought about this, and heeded the warning that I and many others have been giving about tearing down the Constitution.

I would not object, if the government based its decisions on those principles and doctrines of Christianity which almost all Christians at all times have agreed upon, without getting into sectarian differences. That situation, I might add, is the original meaning and intent of the words of our Constitution, and it worked pretty well for almost two hundred years without taking anybody's freedom away.

I think religion shouldn't be to involved with government. the two clash in allot of ways. You should however be able to choose what religion you would like to practice, and should be able to do so without breaking any laws etc...just because someone chooses to believe different then you doesn't make them less of a person. God in the end is the only one who will be judge!

Lets go for it. The Constitution was based on Christian beliefs. If we followed them, we'd need only 2 laws, love God and your neighbor.
