What can a man do to better understand women?

I agree with answer # 3, stay drunk at least this way when they start to nag it won't matter to you and everything is never as serious when you are drunk. Also watch some Dr. Phil or Oprah they both seem to have a B-line into women's thoughts and needs. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Try a little empathy. Women appreciate guys who try to see things from their perspective. Turn the tables. What would YOU do if.....what would you think if......and how would you feel if......etc. if this doesn't help, just ASK. Ask her why she feels this way, thinks that, or did that. Then LISTEN. Listen without thinking about YOU. Listen to their answers without judging them.
Women and men have different needs, priorities, and agendas.
All humans alive want some of the same things, though some things are more sex-specific. For example, everyone wants to be liked, admired, special, validated, listened to, important, etc. Women want to feel cherished more, while men want to feel powerful and influential, more.
Many people will have trouble talking about what they need, but their actions are led by their needs. If they don't make sense, then just ask, and listen, and avoid judging. All peoples' feelings are legitimate, even if they don't make sense to you.
Look at why gay men have so many girl friends. They relate better and are interested in woman things (shopping, fashion, being attractive, sharing emotions and support, etc).

BC is right about Cosmo -- it helped me quite a bit. _Listening_ to women is even better. But no man will ever truly understand women, any more than any woman will ever truly understand men. The best that we can hope for is to minimize the amount of stuff that gets lost in translation.

really nothing....we are creatures unlike any other. to try ti understand us you would be wasting your time. a woman is not something to understand.....just to know about. don't put much in understanding us, there is much more that you can be doing with us than trying to figure us out. just know we are different from you, and love us for that. follow your heart and instincts and get to know the woman you are with while she is around. knowing her as a whole will allow you to possibly become closer to her even though you may not understand her actions or why she does or says what she does.

Be calm, patient and open-minded. Ask questions; therefore, you can balance the amount of time both of you talk- "her"and you- during a conversation (which you will have started gently in the intention of comprehending her) and thus will possibly help you gain more knowledge.
