it makes me question their belief

I have rarely run across one who knows the bible better. I have found a lot of atheists know parts of the bible, but only the parts that they use in their arguments against God. Why would it make me question my belief anyway? I studied different religions for 10 years before deciding to accept Christ as my savior, and I have taken many Bible classes to understand the messages there better. No atheist have ever made me feel stupid - I made my choice and I stand behind it.

Not really. I'm trying to understand why someone would spend so much time studying something they think is stupid. If you read a stupid book (which seems to be what you're saying about the Bible) more than once, doesn't that make you pretty stupid? If you're using other people to come up with your arguments, that's not knowledge, that's regurgitation.

The Bible is a book, anyone can read it, and make it say whatever they want. My belief is spiritual and comes from my experiences. Words can't possibly compensate for these experiences. You can quote til your blue in the face, but, I believe what I believe. So, I guess I'm saying stupid is as stupid does. I find it ironic that anyone would spend so much time reading a book just to impress others with their knowledge, and no real interest in what they're reading. [except to ridicule]

Well first off you can't be too intelligent. Afterall, you can't even spell belief. MOST athiests don't know anything about religion. Christianity is the number one religion in the world with millions of followers. Do you think ALL Christians are intelligent???? It is what is in the heart that matters.
Many Christians know the Bible inside and out. Go to bibleevidence.com.

first of it does not question my BELIEF- makes me question your spelling of that word though..

2ND off.. people could be more intellectual than I in different area including my religion, or even in my job, my mommie skills -whatever But this does not mean my level of intellect is then diminished.. I realize that people are different and even if you knew more about the bible - that DOES NOT negate my knowledge..

but your q did make me feel like I was explaining this to a small child that is trying to be a big boy...
IT does that account for why I feel stupid answering this question..

Yum. I love it when I can surprise a theist by quoting something or giving them an example from their holy book that they didn't know. Most of the theists I know are religious because their parents were, so besting them in a debate is never difficult. I imagine that it does make them feel stupid.

Any idiot - theist, atheist or neurotheist - can easily know the bible, after all it was written by idiots in common langauge & translated into English language, nothing mysterious or supernatural. And you can download it from the Net & use the search & find features to find anything you want to.

2 thoughts came to my mind 1)what a waste to be an atheists, since he had spend so much time reading the bible, & able to quote correctly from it, & 2) he must be a very disappointed christian to turn away from christianityand becomes an atheists

I've never met a christian that knew more about the bible than your average atheist, so I'm guessing that this happens to them all of the time.
