Why or why not?

Assume that you have ruled out the possiblity that someone in your house or outside your window is playing a trick on you.

No. I would think I was schizophrenic, and I would probably disregard the voices unless they spouted something that proved them to be something other than a mental illness. Then I would consider becoming a prophet of sorts.

I guess it would depend on what the voice told me. I wouldn't immediately rule out the idea that it might be God, but I wouldn't instantly accept the notion, either. There are things like demons and spirits which have a vested interest in deceiving me if possible.

No, it is your inner voice which you normally think with being expressed as if it comes from outside of you. This happens when the left hemisphere of your brain becomes quiescient due to meditation, sleep, fasting, even extreme stress, and the brain as a whole then detects the right hemisphere as a different external personality. It is not a god talking to you, it is your brain functioning in a different mode.

There could be a variety of non God manifestations behind the voice. It could be a spirit who is troubling you or trying to scare of communicate with you. it could be a brain hallucination. It could be your a dream. God usually will not appear through a voice and if he does it would not be in this trivial manner unannounced. To see or experience God you have to go through decades of rigorous sadhana or spiritual practice in whatever faith you belong to. And this is not book reading, nor visiting places of worship, but dedicated self effort in transforming your mind a nd heart so that the purity of youw own Self within c an manifest itself as Him.

I think that I would ask for some proof. Like Moses or Gideon did.

What's wrong with asking God for his I.D.? John told us to not believe every spirit that speaks to us, but test the spirits to see if they are from God (1 John 4:1-6).

No, I wouldn't believe. You can be sure that any words that you hear are coming from a normal living person, or a recording of a normal person's voice.
Anything else is pure imagination, but sometimes imagination is very very strong.

No.
Nighttime is prime hallucinitatory time -
Whenever you have closed your eyes for more than a moment, the pineal gland in the geometric center of your brain releases DMT (dimethyl tryptamine) - dream juice.
All sensory input during those hours is suspect.

Ever heard the song What if God was one of us?

Listen to that song.

You're asking essentially the same question.

Are you asking if you should believe in God or if you should listen to the voices in your head?

Never listen to a voice in your head, until you know it's god.

For example, God would not come to you and say,
"go to walmart and lill everyone there."
This would be satan and his bag of tricks.

God exists.
Maybe he just wants you to believe and not doubt.

The Bible says that we are to test the spirits. So I would ask a question. Only spirits from God will confess Jesus as Lord.

nope i would not assume anything
i would think logically and knowing about sleep paralysis and hypnagogic state , i would ask the voice to come to me in day time when i am fully awake and coherent to discount any sleep problems
and even still i would have to test the voice .. maybe to give me something i wouldn't otherwise know of

I would listen for more information, and if I didn't get any responce when I tried to address the voice, I'd assume my husband was talking in his sleep.
