While organising folder I came across a resitriction in Windows where there is a maximum limit to the number of characters that can be used in creating folders, subfolders and then file names. Haven't yet got an idea of what the limit is but was wondering if anyone knew.

According to Microsoft, the long file name limit is 255 characters.

They had some problems with Win95 in the beginning. It's limit was 250 characters, but that has long since been fixed.
