My cuz just had to get off messanger b/c of lock down

Lock down means that all communications with off post personnel is limited to commanding units within the post. Done for electronic security purposes. Loose lips sink ships.

lock down usually means your unit is all held together in the same place and can't be released. Usually on the day before deployment of if a weapon is lost, something serious.

Its an Americanism, it means to secure yourself in a 'cantonement' A built up "secure" area, mind you it never is to secure, because the Americans never do it right!
