It depends what's in that one meal!
If it is mostly vegetable and grains, she will lose weight.
If it is tons and tons of oil, sugar, and fat, she will not lose a thing.

In any event, if she eats only once a day, she will crave a LOT of food at that one meal.

It is best to eat many small meals of vegetables and other "good" foods. This will keep her satisfied and probably she will get less calories this way than with one BIG meal.

It depends on the size of the meal. Four or five smaller meals during the day would be better than one. If the body feels it is being starved it will slow down the metabolism and burn fewer calories. She should eat her biggest meal at the start of the day because it is when she is most active. A friend of mine(not overly heavy at the beginning) lost 15 pounds by simply eating the last meal of the day earlier. The later you eat the less likelyhood there is that the body will burn off the calories. Green tea won't hurt, but water is best for keeping the body flushed out and hydrated. Drink water often during the day. Almost all diet experts recommend this. Exercise of course helps because the metabolism is speeded up, and one burns more calories even at rest. I would not advise your friend to eat one meal a day. Smaller meals during the day is better(fresh fruits and vegetables) It will be much easier to stay on this regimen if she does not feel hunger pains. Diets that are designed for quick weight loss and then dropped when the goal is reached seldom work in the long run. Your friend needs an approach to eating that she can live with.

There are 3,500 calories in a pound. So it doesn't depend whether your friend eats one meal a day or ten, what matters is how many calories she consumes.

If she normally consumes 2000 calories a day, and maintains her weight, then if she eats only 1500 calories per day while maintaining the same levels of activity then over the course of a week she will have consumed 3,500 fewer than normal and presumably would have lost a pound.

Keep in mind however, that the number you see on the scale will fluctuate based on fluid retention, etc. and that fluctuation could be a couple pounds easily.

I don't know about green tea, but the best way to lose weight is to consume fewer calories and expend more energy.

She'll actually gain weight that way. If you stop eating or cut back on meals your body thinks that you need to conserve fat in case there won't be any more (starvation mode). If your friend wants to lose weight the best thing to do is eat a lot of small balanced meals throughout the day (like 5 or 6). Lean about your body before you torture it.
The green tea is just caffeine, just like all those diet pills are. It temporarily speeds up your metabolism, but exercise will speed it up much more effectively.

I think the best bet is to eat 5 or 6 smaller meals throughout the day and count your calories. Calories is all that matters. Its easy to eat healthy and eat 1500 calories but if you go to Starbutts and order a venti frapp then youve just added almost 1000 calories without thinking about it. Thats really where people make the mistakes. I would count calories and eat about 1300 cals a day. Make sure to eat 40% protein, 30% carbs and 30% fat if you are good at balancing. Take a multi vitamin too.

You'll lose weight slowly just by cutting calories, but to really speed things up you need to excercise. You need a little cardio like walking fast or jogging and you also need some resistance training. Buy some cheapy weights at Target (start small like 2.5 lbs and maybe 5 lbs), then go online and find some resistance excercises using free weights.

Make sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday... This keeps you hydrated and full so youre not as hungry. Definitely works for me.

If you stick to it you'll loose weight. I had gained about 40 lbs after I had shoulder surgery 2 years ago and Ive been fighting to get rid of my extra weight. Ive got a 10 lbs to go.

.it depends if she only has one meal a day and she eats 2500 calories for that one meal she just might gain weight.

better to have 6 small meals of 250 calories each meal. that is the best way. and of course walk briskly for an hour each and every day. the green tea may not help , but it surly wont hurt.

after i week she could lose 2-3 pounds. also thinking thin helps.
the brain is an amazing organ. if you truly believe you can lose weight you probably can/will your friend can do it especially with having a friend like you supporting her . but why does she want to lose weight 5'6' and 148# that is a bmi of 24 which is a desirable weight. if she is unhappy with her looks try to change
for example new hair cut or new clothes. maybe smile more even if you do not mean it.

Actually, it would be better if she just ate several small meals.... cut back on the quantity of food, but not the frequency. When you fast, even just for part of the day, your body gets tricked into thinking that it's starving, and the metabolism goes way down in an effort to conserve energy (i.e. fat.) So not eating regularly can actually make you gain weight rather than lose it. And green tea is very healthy, so drinking it would be great. Not sure it'll really help with weight loss, though, but it won't hurt.

If she goes to eating only one meal a day, she wont lose many pounds at all. Her body will think it is being starved and shut down her metabolism. If your friend eats 4-5 small meals (like snack size) for total calories of 1800 from a balance variety of healthy foods and EXERCISES, she should loose and KEEP OFF 2-3 pounds per week.

Your friend should not skip any meals. Meal skipping can actually lower her metabolsim and cause a weight gain. If she really wants to lose weight she should adopt a healthy eating plan. I lost over 10 pounds with weight watchers the first week. By the way, does your friend realize that she is at a normal weight for a female of her height?

green tea is supposed to help increase the metabolism, and it isn't any calories so it wouldn't harm.
One meal a day though? Any weight she would lose would pile back on afterwards and she would get irritable and tired. Best is to modify her diet and increase excerise.
As to the amount of weight she would lose....... not much, any weight loss by this method is mainly fluid and not fat, so it tricks you into thinking that you have lost more than you have.
