depends on what kind of food you are wrapping. For meats I tend to use aluminum foil. For herbs I use a damp paper towel, and for other vegetables, I use plastic wrap. Use whatever keeps that specific item the freshest.

plastic--you can often smell the food through paper, and plastic covers more securely

paper is more environment friendly, but plastic is more effective, especially for foods that are moist or sticky. So plastic

plastic to keep air out (somewhat) paper to allow food to breathe and plastic to keep goo in..you dont want to wrap meat in paper..
