You should open a BINGO. I used to raise money for non-profit organizations using bingo as one of my fund-raisers. We played 4 or 5 days a week and I raised an average of 1.7 million a year. That was 1.7 million donated to the charity every year. Our best year was 2.3 million. Worst was 1.2 million.
What state do you live in? Do a little research on the rules and regulation for bingo. Depending on how much you can play for, and the location you have, you could draw in 300 or more customers every day you play. I had an average spend of $72.00 per person and we gave away an average of $7,000 a day. My largest crowd was 1480 people and we gave away $30,000. I made over $70,000 in that one day for my Charity.
I'll be more than happy to help you, if you are in the Baltimore MD area. But my services are not free. :-)

Can you make a book about it? You could collect stories and artwork and publish them. If your people have jobskills, you could form a co op to provide jobs and use a percentage to run the place. I'm just bringing this up because there seems to be more competition for the same available funds.
