having a semi-automatic put on my temple. I hate going to counseling...it's just not for me. I have had sleepless nights and nightmares almost every night. Any advise on how to cope with this?

No they have not caught both guys who did this....and in my glove compartment was paperwork (oil change receipts, a bill or 2) with my current address, and my work badge. They have not recovered my car keys with my apt key and work office key.

Get your locks changed immediately, and cancel/stop payment on your credit cards. Your bank may want to keep them open to help track down the thieves, but make sure they understand that you are not in possession of them.

I would suggest having someone come stay at your house with you for a while, or staying at someone else's house. Contact the local PD to see what they think about the possibility of someone robbing you.

If you have an neighborhood security, as them to keep a special eye on your house.

Sorry this happened to you and best of luck!

Well in most situations where someone encounters that feeling of complete helplessness there is some type of trauma. Truth is over time you will overcome it. I would suggest you take some kind of enabling class to give you back yoru confidence. ei self defence, or go out and shoot a gun. find a shooting gallery empty a few shells at a blank target. This will usually help you build your confidence back.

just keep in mind you know you best

how traumatic. yes, try counseling if it helps. a burglar once broke into my home (former) and i never felt safe there again. i couldn't sleep. the police gave all sorts of advice like get a ferocious dog, a gun, sleep in your running shoes and clothes. it takes time even if you don't get counseling. my heart goes out to you. glad you're safe.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Seek the Lord and He will help you through these times.

Pray and he will answer you if you believe in Him.

Sometimes just talking about it will help....Writing it all down will also help. Don't keep it to yourself just get it all out. Good Luck and if you find you really need it please do try counseling i could help.
