I am raising my grandson. He is 8 years old and has been with me since he was born. His mother didn't want him and my son did not have a job to take care of himself let alone a child.I have had legal custody of him for 6 years now.I figured my son would step up to the plate and get a job.Well that didn't happen..still hasn't happened:( so my little boy calls me mom and said he knows i am the only one who loves him. That's sad..He is my heart...

Not me, but I know a lady in our neighborhood who is 72 years old and is raising her two great grandchildren. The parents are real losers, I guess and she is really all those kids have, but they are horrible. Ages 5 and 7. They are so mean. I've seen them scream at her, say they hate her and even spit in her face.
It makes me sad, I know they only act that way because they are angry about their parents, but she does so much for them and I am afraid for her health.
I don't see why, if people have kids, why can't they just be the parents they are suppose to be? If that isn't what they want then why have kids?

my grandmother raised me when my parents separated and i never went back to my mother.
i had the best childhood a kid could have but i was raised by a really strict and loving grandmother. i have nothing but respect for her and still miss her.
she had time for me when a lot of parents are involved in trying to put food on the table and going on with their lives.
i would not raise my grandkids unless something drastic happened. thats what their parents are for. but i do admit that i have my grandkids a lot. but im not a built in babysitter. i help when i can and thats where a lot of parents mess up.

I was raised by my grandmother, my mother had a drug problem, was in and out of abusive relationships, and I refused to live with my father because I barely knew him since he was in jail for the first 5 years of my life and he was a raging alcoholic.I'm very close to my grandmother. I don't know what I'll ever do without her! She is my guardian angel!!!
