Well since this is the first time you've ever gotten in trouble they should go lightly on you. If the story about "you can have whatever they leave" is true and can be proven that might help too. It could turn out that your "friend" was just lying to you to get you to help him steal this stuff. If that's true too and can be proven, then you will probably end up with a reduced sentence of some kind. From your story it sounds like your the victim of bad judgement and nothing more.
I am not familiar with Pennsylvania's criminal code, but in Ohio that would be Burglar, a third degree felony. You'd be looking at some jail time and fines. 1-5 years to be precise.

Disclaimer: I am a recent graduate of the Ohio Police Academy, not the Pennsylvania Police Academy. I also do not have a detailed account of your offense. I can only give you my opinion.

Opinion: Sounds like since this is your first offense, and you were mislead, then you'll basically just get a slap on the wrist. Or it could turn out that the judge wants to make an example out of you, in which case you should appeal the decision. I wouldn't worry too much though. Just get confirmation from the actual owners of the property next time.

Under the circumstances you will probably get probation if you can convince the judge that you had no reason to believe that you were doing something wrong. If you were there to take things like shelving, old magazines or a cheap desk fan then it is probable that you were collecting things left behind.

But if the guy supposedly left behind his plasma TV, his CD collection, and a set of expensive silverware you are going to have a hard time proving that you didn't know that you were robbing the place.

hopefully you'll get a lesson learnt. Tell the judge your story and hope for the best. If this had been some homes you wouldn't have gotten away with your life. I was burglarized once and would not hessitate to take a life if it happened again or I found out who did it. Be careful in the decisions you make and the friends you choose. Good luck.

Prolly nothing but a slap on the rist. It all depends on what the judge wants to do, but im sure you will be fined and put on probation. Hopefully your friend will step up and let them know what he had said about the stuff being left behind.

YOU NEED A LAWYER. He can bring your friend in and
MAYBE prove what you claim is true.
If your friend really helped these people move and then told you that you might get off with probation and not serve any real time.

More than likely you will get probation for a year.
maybe have to pay court costs ect...

if it is your first offense you could get off with probation since you were caught without getting away with anything. if you have a half decent lawyer and your story is true you might be able to prove that your friend is not really a friend. start hanging out in better circles.

tell your attorney what your friend said, you could end up with probation. But then again a lot depends on your age and the value of the items that were taken.

If I heard my friend tell me this, my instinct would be on the alert. Something about his story doesn't jive. Your friend may have known they were moving out and just wanted to steal their stuff. It sounds like he set you up. Not a good situation!
