GM is going bankrupt for one reason they suck!!!

Don't buy japonese cars they suck!!!
they are light construction and are like a bic lighter (disposable). ever heard of a classic civic???

Don't buy a cheap american car they are likely made in japan.

Personally i would buy my teen a light truck or small SUV. Durango, Jeep Liberty.

its nice looking, not too fast and insurance is cheeper. No-one is going to clown you if you drive a 4x4 either.

Consider a Scion. Those are very well built, a good price, well equipped, customizable, and cool. You can have them fitted with awesome stereos and they do a no haggle price so you can pick and choose your options based on what you want to pay.

As for sporty and six cylinder you could look at the new Mitsubishi Eclipse. But frankly a teen does not need a six cylinder car, that is a total overkill and pretty irresponsible.

You could always spring for a RAV4, they now come with a third row if you want. It is safe enuf, and cute too. ok, for a boy or girl.

Personally I think what a teen should get is what they saved up the money to buy. Now they just get them, and then society wonders why they drive like maniacs. Hmmm maybe because the parents will be the responsible ones, and then get them a new car when they break the old one....what is wrong with riding a bike to work until you earn enough to buy one...then you appreciate the wheels, and don't want to crash it in some stupid road race....just my opinion. It worked for me....no accidents...ever....and I am past 30.

my answer is one they can afford. ei make them pay the note and have them pick out what they can afford. If they are apying the bill they will be more appreciative of value and take better care. I think a small under powered car i sbest liek a honda fit or something cheap. geo metro comes to mind.

Pontiac makes some sporty cars. pretty much all 4 door midsized cars are the same on insurance.

I love my '02 sunfire it has electronic traction control (ETS). which is very nice on icy winter roads

Chevy Cavalier's, Ford Contours' and any 4 door sedan are good on insurance rates. Dodge Stratus' are another good choice too.

hummer.....j/k . Whatever you do don't get any old cool cars like a 67 mustang. Cause no airbags. But always look at used cars that are like 97' or whatever cause the older cars seem to have better gas mileage .
