Microsoft Word Problem?

Question

I can't open Word at all through shortcuts, or any document or anything. I get the error message "This file does not have associated with it for performing this action Create a association in the Folder Options control panel"
I have tried folder options that doesn't work I have tried repairing Word through the installation disk,I have checked for viruses, etc. Word worked before this isn't a new installation. I can't open my Search nor my System restore as well. I am at a lost on what to try next! does anyone have an idea what I can do? thanks

You've unknowingly messed up your system. Try reinstalling Windows.
