What can be done to get people to think about their local clubs as places to actually go.

Let's look at it this way...
Beavis and Butthead killed HAIR BANDS by their constant satirical and cynical comments on them. (They could have done the same for rap!)

Def Comedy jam killed good club comedians... 50/50 of audiences want blue dirty Richard Pryor/Eddie Murphy/Dave Chapelle humor..the other half wants Louie Anderson clean humor. Hard sell in nightclubs these days. Plus all comedians CAN get their own cable show since cable has expanded to over 1000 channels..why work clubs?

More popular? Probably not. Better? I hope so.

Tom Kenny, the guy who voices Spongebob, was a standup at that time. He said in an NPR interview that anyone who didn't COMPLETELY suck at it could be a stand up comic and make a living at it.

Watching the old Evening at the Improv's, I'm inclined to agree.

I miss The Amazing Jonathan...
