Actually no they cannot. If you tell them not to call you at work and they keep it up, it is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act. Send them a certified letter (return receipt requested) stating that you will make arrangements to pay but you demand that they stop calling you at work. Then when you get the card back showing the letter has been delivered, pay attention to the date of receipt. If they have called after that, you have legal recourse. Talk to an attorney. If this is a collection agency that is calling, all you have to do is tell them that when they produce a statement signed by you stating that you owe them money, you will pay, otherwise, do not call back. A collection agency has no legal right to make you pay. Good luck.

It may some as a surprise to some of you - but no, a creditor cannot call you at work after you have asked him not to. If they do, it is considered a form of harassment. You just ask them politely not to call you at work. You don't need to give them a reason.

Creditors are not allowed to call constantly or at work - next time they call tell them you are going to Citizen Advice Bureau as you are being harrassed, take the name of the caller.
