Spend some time alone. Breathe and enjoy the life you have. Have fun with your friends. Then maybe, when you think you're ready, get yourself back out there and try dating again. I don't think you can ever forget or get over it when you've truly loved someone. Time eases, not all, but most pain.

time is the only way i was with a guy for 7years and he moved away so we broke up i was devastated at first but i got over it we are still great friends and whenever he comes back home he comes to see me. I am now in a relationship with a guy and have been for 2years. You have to give yourself time to get over him and when i say time i don't mean sitting moping about what was and what could have been just go out and have fun and enjoy being alone for a while

To be honest really you can't because a song on the radio will always remind you, and places that you go may also remind you. I would say try to stay as busy as possible, because when you have to much free time your mind wonders.
