i'm 18.. my parents do not show that they love me. i just don't understand...

Because they hate and do not love themselves therefore not able to love others..
Another possibility is they love you but just do not know how to show it. Life is weird like that sometimes.

Have they always been unaffectionate? Affection is a learning. If someone has never received affection, they don't know how to show affection. It is sad and unfortunate that this is a fact. Some parents didn't want the child in the first place. Some people do actually love their child, but don't know how to express it or show their feelings. Without knowing your parents it is difficult to know which the case might be.

Sometimes parents come across as not loving you. I used to think that mine did not love me, but then I sit back and look at all they had done and sacrificed for me and I think how could they not have loved me to have had what I had, and I did not grow up with a lot of money. I used to fight non stop with my mother, but now that I have kids, I see how much she did love me and was trying to teach me what was right. Why don't you go to your parents, give them both a big hug and say it first, "I Love you guys" you might be surprised at the reaction that you get.

I know what you mean sweetie I've had the same problem with my parents all my life (I'm 23), it hurts I know. Just try talking to them and tell them how you feel. I'm a parent myself now, and I just don't see how people can act that way, I make sure my children know I love them. Good luck sweetie.

Unfortunately that happens, I don't know you or your situation - but I believe you should make it different when you have your own children.....you know how it feels to have no love or affection from parents, don't let your (future)kids grow up the same way!

some are just not good at expressing their love. this al depends on culture also. as a general rule, families of aian descent usually are less expressive in terms of this subject. their kids in return will inherit the same qualities and so on. just because they dont say they love u every single minute, does not mean they dont :) actions speak louder than words sometimes.

What do you mean by not loving you. Do they yell at you for doing something wrong? Sometimes it's actually affection because if they didn't love you they wouldn't care.

its the same with me too....just leave it...there will come a time when they will show it out...so be patient...after all they do so much for u...its just becoz they luv you.....have a gud day...dont be sad....
