Both of the previous World Wars started as a regional war which was widened out of the necessity of a complicated system of alliances.
In WWI, it began with the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand and the declaration of Austria-Hungary on Serbia.
In WWII, Hitler attacked Poland and Britain and others jumped into the mix.
What we have in the Middle East today is and has been for some time similar. If Israel is attacked and they go to war, you can be almost certain that the United States will jump in on her behalf- and that they would win.
Why would the United States and her allies win? Well, as long as they are not afraid to force a conventional war which can be fought mostly from the air, then they could win. How to do this? The United States would have to declare any state which harbors terrorists to be fair game for attack and declare war on each nation which does so. That would make all civilian infrastructure, manufacturing, etc potential targets.
And after the war, maybe the world would be a safer place...who knows.

No. I think it would start in Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asian region because for it to be a world war you need two superpowers involved. That is the most likely trouble spot for China and US to duke it out. Russia is nearly castrate from any major wars. No superpower would support an all out war in Middle East because of fragile oil interests in the area. Meanwhile Europe is divided on Middle east politics so the EU would never start a war on the Middle East. It is really more likely for a World War to start because of taiwan and China than in middle east. The Middle East has no superpower, but they have overwhelming guerrila warefare. The only problem is they're divided amongst themselves so they pose no serious threat. Without another superpower, World War would not be a real world war because the sides are uneven. Middle East war could spread to other regions through terrorism, but that is not a world war, but a true war on terrorism finally.

There are alot of places of trouble in the world. But world war will ever be fought like the previous wars. World War 3 would begin behind a desk in some world power's capitol and it will end with a nuclear holocaust. The events in the middle east are escalating...and honestly they are continually getting from bad to worse...if this were to lead to a world war...here's what I see happening.
A stray Israeli or Hizbollah missile falls over Syrian borders. The Syrian military is already under orders to move against Isreal in the event of an attack. When Syria begins an offensive...Iran will follow closely behind. The US and the UK will fall in behind Isreal, North Korea will jump in with Syria and Iran. From there it becomes a pick and choose...
best option is to make sure it doesn't get to that point. If it does...we will be fighting a Holy War...and even though it isn't about religion to us...to the middle east it will be. To them it will be the muslim world fighting Isreal and it's allies. In that case no place will be safe...b/c terrorism will show up in full force.

Middle East possibly for quite a large war, but I don't think it would be a world war as no country there is big enough militarily. To have a world war you would need a least 2 big military powers fighting. So America could be one, but then they would have to fight China or Russia or Europe. So it's probably more likely to be in the Far East with the situation over North Korea, or the tensions over certain territories China believes it has rights over etc.

Why worry about the middle east, Give it another thirty years and the oil will be all but gone anyway. And who will really care about the sand pit then.
The only reason anyone gives a toss about the whole area is the black stuff any way, So wait ab it then watch as the whole region becomes a huge third world region, All them Arabs will be trading in their riches for a few camels and some water.

Yep. Middle east. The west needs oil, so western governments will do what they can to sustain our way of living, which is dependent on cheap energy. China needs energy too, as does India. As these massively populated countries become more like the west (industrialized and affluent), their demands on the already strained supply will intensify the situation. All in all, it's so pointless. As someone else mentioned, the oil will run out. If that happens without suitable alternative energy in place, the middle east will be the least of anyone's problems. There won't be enough petrol to carry food from the farm 100 miles away, or from anywhere else in the world, to your local supermarket, let alone to fuel a fighter jet. There won't be enough fuel to power farm equipment, or to get you and me back and forth to work...most likely there won't be many jobs left either as employers and companies go belly up due to rising energy costs. Either way, unless cheap, renewable or sustainable energy other than oil is located or developed, we're all toast! Fusion anyone?

Western world will continue to pursue the so-called terrorist and be killing them, including any one who called himself as Muslim, until the time when it comes to no way out to all Arabs and Muslims. TRUE. It is by then when those who remain alive will decide to take necessary action, and from then what would look like the deadliest war will began. Nobody know when this war will end. But I want u to bear in mind that, this war will take this world to baddest war that never happen on this earth. Sooner or later, this must happen, and we may or may not be alive at that time.
