I dislike travel agents. They never get me the best deal and are too interested in their own high profit offers to give me what I want.
Online gives me flexibility.
There are still certain deals that you need to go through a TA for, but these are reducing every year...

I have traveled more then most travel agents so I book my own. I know what I am doing more they they seem to. The only time I use travel agents is when I am in a foreign country and I need to book something and I have limited internet access.

The internet makes things so incredibly easy to book. However, for traveling internationally, I like the fact of using a person to do it for me. That way if something goes wrong, you can blame it on them (ha ha ha).
But I recently met a gentleman from Hawaii and he gave me this spin on it. He said that if two couples walked into a hotel and were both on their honeymoon and wanted to be upgraded, they would be treated differently. The one who used a travel agent (because they continued to employ someone), would get upgraded. The second couple would sort of get shunned.
It was an interesting spin on it and I'll definately keep it in mind when I do traveling.

I used to be a travel agent. Trust me, you can get much better deals online than you can going through an agency.

The future is NOW. Travel agents are obsolete. Once your grandparent's and parent's generations pass, they will no longer be needed.
