Honey is better for you. The sugar in it is not refined and it contains other healthy properties. For example, if you have allergies and eat "local" honey, it may help so that your allergies aren't as severe. Check it out...

About the same number of calories, for the same "sweetness". All sugars have 4 calories per gram, just like any other carbohydrate.

Honey also contains some other interesting things. Like for example, botulin toxin (the same as in food poisoning or Botox), which is why you must NEVER give honey to an infant. But that small amount of toxin will not harm and adult or child. Some people even think it is good for you.

The sugar in honey is "highly available", which means your blood sugar will rise quickly after eating honey (just like refined cane or beet sugar). If you want to avoid that, try a sugar substitute instead. Or gradually lower the amount of sugar you use to reset your "sugar thermostat".

Pure sugar is 100% cabohydrate and contains 400 kcals per 100g of product.

Honey is primarily carbohydrate (about 82%) and contains about 308 kcals per 100g of product so it's still a high calorie product.

Unlike pure sugar, honey does contain a wide range of vitamins and minerals including iron, calcium, potassium, zinc, vitamin C etc.

Sugar isn't bad for you in moderation but honey would be a healthier alternative, but again, in moderation.

Honey contains a natural antibiotic, and also by volume less calories than white or brown sugar. I met and spoke with an old man who sold honey, he was 93 and said he took a teaspoon of clover honey everyday. If that doesn't say something, I don't know what does.

Honey has a bit less calories per ounce, but it's denser, so a spoon of honey has more calorise than a spoon of sugar.
Honey is healthier, because it's bioactive and high in vitamines.
However, if you're diabetic or pregnant, you should not consume it

I think that, calorie for calorie, sugar and honey are about the same. However, raw honey is *much* better for you than sugar (especially processed sugar).
If the honey is pasteurized, it's not much good, but raw honey is very good for you in moderation. (Obviously, too much of anything is not that great, but you'll notice that it's harder to eat too much honey than it is to eat too much sugar... in my experience, you'll start getting a definite "that's enough" feeling when eating a lot of honey.)

It depends on the honey. If it's natural and pure than it's healthier than sugar. I know because my grandmother makes her own honey. It's so good!!!

There's not a lot of difference.
Honey is easier to digest and contains a very small amount of stuff that's important to bees. It's no healthier. It still causes a sugar rush and it still makes your teeth fall out.
