I had all four of mine out at the same time and it really was a breeze. I was soooooooooo nervous because anything to do with teeth and bleeding makes me quezy but it went fine. The last thing I remember was the nurse putting a gas mask thing over my face, then I just woke up and wondered when the procedure would begin. Turns out it already happened and they let me sleep a while! I did not feel a thing! I did get swelling and brusing on one side of my face, and my teeth did bleed for about two days. The good part was I got to move back home for two days and have my mom take care of me!!
Make sure you stick to soft foods for about two weeks--you really do NOT want the blood clots to come loose and get dry socket. Good foods:
mashed sweet potatoes
Sherbert
Sorbet
Frozen yogurt
Smoothies ( DO NOT USE A STRAW)
Mashed bananas
Yogurt
Soup ( not too hot)
Oatmeal
You will be fine!

If you are in England.. yes it is painful.. in the us military..yes it is painful.. if you have a good dentist who knows you don't want to be uncomfortable.. no it wont be painful.. If your wisdom teeth have erupted.. it wont be painful at all you will be eating ok the day after (if you take all the precautions the first day) if they are impacted.. you will be a bit sore from the tugging they might have to do.. Nothing that you won't overcome..Just get some ensure and keep your painkillers close...you will be fine.

Are you having all four removed at once? Are they impacted (they haven't come up through the gum)?
You will probably be put to sleep so you won't feel anything. You'll probably be given a prescription for an antibiotic and some pain meds for when the Novocaine wears off. It's not a big deal. You won't feel too good for the first day, then you will feel much better.

Which proves even a dentist can have a sense of humour.
Using the FDI numerical system the wisdom teeth are numbers 18, 28, 38, and 48, so I call them the crazy eight's.

Usually, wisdom teeth are removed while you are asleep, that is how I would recommend it anyway. Being asleep makes it a lot easier on you and the doctor because you are relaxed and can open wider. You should expect to have some discomfort afterward it just depends on how difficult they are to remove.

They bore a hole into your brain and extract all of your wisdom. THAT hurts.
