Seriously, right now I wish I lived there as I am feeling defiant and would love to be arrested for this. What was I thinking homeless people should go to Mickie D's like everyone else that or a fine French restaraunt right? What are your thoughts?

It's not just Las Vegas. Years ago Phoenix Az closed down a tent shelter that was operated. They said too many homeless people where hanging out in the area and it was bad for business. This shelter housed, fed, clothed, provided an address and mail service and helped with job hunting. I used to live in Phx. and I never understood why they thought the wealthy should have more rights.

For those of you who would judge as to why they are homeless think. I was once homeless too and 8 months pregnant at Christmas time. I was seperated from my husband and could no longer work. I was living with a friend and was kicked out of the apartment. I do not do drugs nor drink. Who would hire a pregnant woman?

well that's insulting.

homeless do what they want. don't bother them, there's reasons why you're not to provoke them in ways such as this. i find folks doing this alot, like with giving them money then later on i hear the very people who did this are complaining that they have no time to themself when they are walking around.

the people they patronize end up following them (not all homeless will do this some will tell you where to go, some are a proud people) and not letting them alone and following them into places of biz or standing outside the place of business then when customers see this they either leave or don't go in because they don't want to deal with it or they feel threatened.

leave the subject alone. you'll be happier you did and no one will give you trouble then.

there's a reason for this.

and no mc donalds, burger king, kfc, any place doesn't matter doesn't want that attraction, it's bad for biz.

there's a reason they hang in parks, benches... wander around. and it's not just folks don't want them anywhere's else.

some have problems, some like the freedom, some rather it be that way. they want food they have many opportunities to aquire it. there are programs via the government through your tax dollar that provide for these individuals (bascially, not effectively) for their needs.

or that's the way it was when clinton was in office.

we had a situation here where someone at KFC was feeding the homeless lady leftovers (how insulting, going to give her food give her real food) suddenly there she was on the bench in front of the kfc all hours of the day, urinating all over the sidewalk and defecating behind the dumpster.. it was rancid and KFC lost alot of biz. they almost lost their location.

someone chased her off finally and things are back in operation of course not after a big deal and a totally avoidable health code violation and infestation caused by the feces, food all over the place she didn't eat, trash and urine odors that were enough to send you gagging violently.

it was real bad there were huge black spots on the sidewalk that were getting moldy... it was seriously bad.

so along with those who get harrassed by some who think they're going to get handouts every time they pass (you become a target) businesses rather do without the trouble because it can become real nasty trouble.

The problem is that it's like feeding a stray cat. Once you do, they don't go away. They stay there waiting for the next handout. These are public parks that exist because of taxpayers like me - not because lazy bums need somewhere to sleep off last night's buzz.

Why don't you and the others invite these "homeless" people to your home to feed them? You don't even have to invite them in - just feed them right outside your door. I'd bet you anything that your righteous indignation ends when it comes to your personal space, doesn't it? You realize that what I said is true - they won't go away after you feed them a few times, will they? And you don't want them living on your doorstep or in your yard, do you?

Well, the park doesn't belong to the freeloaders. It belongs to the taxpayers in the community, and if the taxpayers don't want their children tripping over parasites on their way to the swings, that's their right.

It is easy to get carried away with feelings of empathy for fellow-citizens and feel defiant. The underlying justification is that such people are "hijacking" facilities created for recreation of tax-payers with tax money. Without tax-payers, the nation would not have any money to spend and so it is only just that they be respected and be the first ones to use the facilities. Of course, it does not in anyway mean that people must be discouraged from helping the homeless. But, as the saying goes, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime". Helping them by feeding them is not really helping them. It might actually encourage them to remain lazy all of their life resulting in a life-of-no-consequence for the individuals and leakage of citizen facilities for tax-paying public and the nation. Again, it is also the responsibility of the nation to work towards reducing conditions leading to homelessness through counselling and decent employment for the able, and through welfare programs like homes for the differently abled, senior citizens and children. And with the exception of kids, all such people must be encouraged/helped to lead an honourable life by earning their own means.

Okay so what are the police suppose to do when families that are at these parks while the homeless are getting fed, have their cars broken into? Or they follow the family asking for money. These are just two problems that Vegas has to deal with.

Yes, it is illegal in many places. They don't want you poisoning the homeless with old food or harming them by giving them something they're allergic to, etc. You need a permit to do a public feeding in most places, and that probably involves insurance, holding the city harmless, etc. etc.

Ridiculous, isn't it?

This is just in "Sin City", where they want to keep the homeless under wraps so the high rollers won't see them and maybe give them some money that would ordinarily be spent of gambling.

Shows what ignorance can do as well as pride and predjudice. With a law like that, I would feed those that are hungry anyway as God said to feed them and no country in the world has a right to say no to that.

a stupid disgusting law isn't it
and surely this goes against your rights as an individual
for those wishing to give food to the hungry .. its your food and you should do with it as you please
i wish i lived there also , they could take us all Debra lock us up lol
seriously though i feel its the snobbery of some people wishing to deter those less fortunate than them self , so they can have guilt free fun and eat their picnics without worry... disgusting !

did you know that 12 years ago in Kansas City, Missouri that it was legal to shoot a morman (form of protestant christianity) on sight? The law is crazy and always has been. In that regard, here's a site about crazy laws that holds almost no similaritys to your question.
