I think you can't go wrong with a good steak like a porterhouse. Season just before grilling with plenty of kosher salt and fresh ground pepper. For the surf, my favorite is king crab legs. Again, this is so easy because all you need is a big enough pot to boil them in. Add either kosher salt and a sliced lemon to the boiling water or some "oldbay seasoning"

Make some crispy skinned baked potatos to serve along side or a really good salad, an ice cold beer and there you have it.

Note:surf and turf refers to a plate with 2 seperate dishes: 1 seafood and 1 meat/poultry (land animal thus turf). Good examples are Lobster tail and a filet mignon, Fried shrimp and a ribeye steak, BBQ shrimp and BBQ chicken, etc...

surf & turf can be any combonation of things from the sea & land
you could do :
steak & lobster
shrimp and pork chops
lobster & veal chops
you could crab chops & lamb chops
hamburgers with scallops
or my fravorte
barbequed chicken ribs with stuffed jumbo shrimp legs
