You know, it is still up to you to make that final decision at the check out. Just Say No, and make the effort to find Made in anywhere else, for at least a year. China needs a good swift kick in their economy for their abominable behaviour. Take a stand for man's best friend, if not for your country. See how these barbarians handle their health issues.

Don't punish the masses for the sins of the few.

Please note there were dog owners who suffered a loss because of this bad behaviour. A boycott would affect those innocent folks who had nothing to do with this barbaric behaviour.

Find other ways to let the Chinese government know how you feel.

The major problems with boycotts are in two areas

1. Without a good deal of publicity no one is going to notice.

2. The major effect is on the local people selling the product who cannot really influence the source of the problems.

I would suggest a letter writing campaign. To your representatives in congress. To the trade associations that the offending merchants belong to. To the Chinese embassy (they are very sensitive to American public opinion when it comes to economic issues). If you or a friend have the skills to put up a web site you can use it to collect signatures for petitions. Any sort of public action or street theater will help to get local and if good enough national press. Also seek out others who are moving in the same direction and try to make common cause.

The problem is that SO many of our products are made in China these days... it's hard to buy what we need and NOT support them.

If more Americans actually cared about anyone other than themselves, they would see what China is doing to their country and environment making all of those products. Look how long it took America to adopt environmental policies. No one knew about the environment back then but now we do and we're smarter for it. That info is free and easy to adopt but China does not do it... all their concern now is to become an economic power in today's world.... personally I think we should boycott!

It's true that China, who was not 60 years ago the victim of mass murder and oppression by the Japanese, is now the oppressor. However, it's hard to find much of anything that isn't made in China nowadays. And it's not just the US that they send their materials to. It would have to be a worldwide boycott, and you're just not going to get that. Comendable idea though.

Also, I'm sure you didn't know that France uses live grown dogs as shark bait:

Nice thought but you would not be able to buy anything. Then also how do you know if a product is made there, They dont always stamp it. Some things are only partially made there. I would love to stop buying things from China but alas I need things and they are all made there.

While I don't agree with what China is doing, I wonder just how many people realize that 5 million dogs are killed in our OWN country every year simply because there aren't enough homes, and where the outcry is for THEM?

We'd be wearing ourselves out shopping if we didn't buy goods from China. It's like going on a scavenger hunt shopping for the items that you want to ensure they are made in the USA.
