How do casinos work? Are you carded at the door for age verification and then once you enter you go to a cashier to get chips or do you get chips at a table? I am going to Atlantic City for a weekend and just wanted to get some idea what is going to happen. Thanks

Most don't card you at the door. Only get chips if you're playing table games, and the dealers at the tables have chips, so you can actually go right to the table and get them. You go to the cages to cash your chips or quarters or whatever you win into money. Have your ID on you, cuz the dealers will ask.

I'm not certain whether or not it's legal, its a broad statement to leave it up to the discretion of the staff to decide who wears a bracelet, and all of your points are valid and I completely understand where you are coming from. And you CAN sue anyone for anything although I am not certain that this particular issue would be worth your money or your time considering you aren't likely to get much out of it and most likely if you won, it wouldn't be enough to cover your legal fees. I think you are being a bit dramatic and sue-happy, no offense but have you considered some other options? For instance, maybe explain your situation in a well written letter and post it up on the casinos facebook or mail it directly to corporate requesting a change in their policy and a formal apology, if they do not respond or are rude or you still feel strongly about it, most local news stations have facebook profiles specifically for interacting with viewers and they often ask for these kind of stories and the media can put some pressure on them to be more understanding and amend their policies. I live in Reno NV and I look young for my age, I go through this all the time (casinos and brothels and everything else are all legal here so they're everywhere) I know how frustrating it can be.

I work in Las Vegas as a poker dealer and although you are not carded when you enter a casino (because you can be under 21 and walk through a casino) if security or a dealer thinks that you look to young they will card you. As far as bringing someone who is not 21 to a casino, it is a bad idea because if you are not over 21 you can't even watch a game in progress at a table.

In Vegas you are not carded at the door since just entering the building is not against the law. You may however be carded whenever you participate in gambling activities, such as buying or cashing in chips. I went to Vegas last March and was carded at least once per Casino.

The casino can card you at anytime that yopu are in the building. I have been carded by a coctail lady when I ordered a drink at a slot machine before! I've even been carded when I just wanted to cxchange some $20s for a $100 bill. Its their job... and they get a huge fine if caught. Best not to bring him... its not worth it. You can check to see if any of teh casinos in the area are 18+. We have some of those out here in CA!

If you appear to be underage, the dealers at the tables will card you when you try to buy into a game. If you attempt to play the slots, you may be approached by one of the Casino's security and asked for ID. If you do not attempt to play the games or purchase alcohol, then you probably will not be bothered.

You can be carded at any time you are in the gaming area. You will be carded if you get a player's card that earns you comps. If they think you are under age someone will come up to you and ask for ID. They will also card you if you win any decent sized prize (like over $600 that requires a tax form to be filled out.)

Good luck!

Yes, they will card you at the door at most casinos and if they dont and he wins, they will card him then. So, I wouldnt bother because that would be the worst thing in the world.......to win and not get it. I went to Vegas when I was 18 and they let us walk around but we didnt play because we knew we would get busted.

As opposed to Vegas, in Atlantic City you dont walk thru tyhe Casino to get to rooms. Their license is on the line; they will check you if you look young

Nope. Vegas, AC, Foxwoods, et al...you can be any age to walk around the casinos. Once you plop down a bet though..things change and you better be of age. (Obviously state and local laws apply to drinking, smoking, etc.)
