The same as any other Police officer. After having served a period of time on the streets you may be eligible to apply to become an Authorised Firearms Officer (AFO).
You need a higher level of fitness, and a regular eyesight and hearing test which you must pass annually i think.
You do a 5 week firearms course which is intensive and has a high drop out rate, if you pass this then you may be eligible to go on to the ARV's
