SEEMS to me war meant taking over a land or territory and controling everything in it .
WHAT has happened to war .
WE battle and attack and then we leave .
This makes no sense to me and we need to keep what we take .

But when no side can achieve victory, I'd choose option # 1.
But war - as an empire-building process ceased to be effective perhaps 100 years ago. The British Empire was somewhat transitional - it used commerce & civil matters to maintain it's stranglehold, as much as it used military power. Compare that to earlier empires, where control was simply through military might.
Today, war is not fought for empire-building in the conventional sense - but we do realise some gains - look at the contracts & financial gains that have/will arise from GW2.

In the case of lebanon hizballah will win no matter what when israel get out o lebanon. For them they killed over a 100 israelis. I have no idea how dumb our leaders are. Iraq, vietnam, afghanistan, WW1 and WW2. If we were all unde rthe control of one person then that would have been great.

the concept of war has differed from olden times ever since WW!... its mainly about attacking an aggressor ( or not) to get them destroyed to the point where its difficult to recover and get them to admit defeat and all...
now its all bout pride... its like bullying too... last time it was all about capturing lands while killing everyone you found.. now its more of making you suffer, 4 example killing men, so women n children suffer, etc etc...
