A man made god

kade117,
"What kind of God would let his only son get killed, and savaged the way it has been told?"
The one who had His prophets speak of it long before it happened.
Don't forget, Jesus is the Word. He was around before the beginning, and created all that was made. He knew He had to go, as the Bible says- emptied Himself before becoming the Son of Man. He knew he had to be judged and after no guilt was found in Him, was beaten and pierced and then died for all those who sinned as the final sacrifice. Even the type of place He would be buried was foretold. Even the time he would die was foretold.

"god is described as bein totally good in all aspects-resolve this paradox for me"
It is true, "There is none good but God." Yet by saying so, he was saying that no one else was good.
This would be axiomatic, that means that everyone else was bad. Thus, the need for man to be rescued from their badness was necessary. There is so much scripture that I have covered without quoting it, but while acknowledging that mankind was bad, Jesus died for all. His covering was something foretold and what it would do was typified long before.

The thing that makes it difficult to understand is the lack of study people do in the subject. Those that spend the time, get the benefit of exposing themselves to the truth of it. Thos that don't remain confused about it.

So it was not that God was bad for the sacrifice. It was out of love that He came after us in that way.

Two thoughts...

1) The whole paradox issue. Have you considered that maybe a paradox is a GOOD thing? Have you noticed that all the ultimate truths in life seem to be a paradox? The one about absolute power corrupting. Or letting go the thing you love to see if it comes back. The list goes on and on. In the teachings of Jesus himself even. Chock full of paradox. For example...

"If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?"

- Jesus (from the gospel of Matthew, chapter 16)

2) It's not REALLY about God letting his son get killed. Jesus said repeatedly that he WAS God. It was exactly that behavior that got him killed. So let's try a different perspective. Imagine a God who loved us so much that he was willing to get his hands dirty and suffer pain and death just to fix things and bring us back to him.

A loving and compassionate God that's what kind of God would send his only son to pay the price for the sins of the world in order for many to be saved. Jesus endured the cross for the JOY that was set before him!!! He counted it as pure JOY to save us. God is Holy and sin can not dwell in the presence of a Holy God he is also JUST..Justice demands some type of punishment, the punishment for sin is death ( the second death) Jesus took the punishment, so rather than EVERYONE being doomed to go to hell and eternal death (which is separation from God) he produced for us a spotless sacrifice to pay the penalty for many. NOW THAT IS LOVE !!! Now ya know

There is no paradox here. There are many attributes of God. God is Love. God is merciful. God is kind. God is Just. God is Grace. God is Longsuffering. God is Patient.

So, God cannot tolerate sin. Sin is what separates man from God. The penalty for Sin is Death. God, because he is Just, cannot just turn His head and pretend that sin didn't occur. That would go against His very nature of being Just. So, someone had to pay the penalty for sin, which is death. He chose His Son, who was the perfect sacrifice, without sin, to pay the price for you and me.

You and I can forgive someone for doing us wrong, because we are not purely Just. God, because of His Justice, demands payment. But, because of God's grace, He made the payment for you and I.

So, we either accept this gift or we reject it. A God of love, mercy, grace, and justice would let His only son take our place and pay the penalty for sin on our behalf.

The way GOD think is absolutely different with mankind. We think GOD was bad because letting his only son dead. But are you sure about that? Some people say that GOD's hand play this world with unexpectable way. Let me tell you, GOD has intentions for letting his only son get killed (we see it as this fact) but are you sure that his only son get killed? We just being told by others, it just a history, the wide-acceptable table. Maybe, we know that his only son det killed but there's unlimited possibility that his only son is still alive somewhere in this part of world. And someday, he will come in front of us as witness of what we do in this world. You got that.

The kind of God that is willing to give up his only son so that we may be forgiven for our sins. God has shown us that he is willing to sacrifice a huge amount and all he expects out of us is to try to live life by loving each other and have faith in him . when God had his only son sacrificed , he showed that he truly loved us. We should be thankful he did this. And we should repay him with that same love.

I think it is normal to want to blame someone or something or God when something goes wrong, and losing a son is the worst loss a parent could experience. You won't experience peace if you try to explain why this happened. You can be assured that God is with you in your suffering. He is close at hand, and he wants you to experience love and joy. Try to sit calmly, listen and feel God's presence in your life. I think you will continue to suffer as long as you try to blame and explain. I am so sorry for your loss.
