Some people just think differently from you. It might be the way she is brought up, it might be her social circle. She might have no clue she is offending you and possibly your Father. If she is offending you then you have to tell her. But do this calmly and with an open mind.

But before you go ahead and do that, consider this:

Did your father TELL her to call him by his first name?

How old is she and how old is your father? If she is in her 30's I would agree with her. If she is a teen then she should address your father as Mr and then his last name.

How old is your girlfriend? These days it's often quite acceptable for two adults who have a friendly relationship to call each other by first name, even if one of them is dating the child of the other. If your father has a problem with this, you should let your girlfriend know so she doesn't continue offending him. Also, in the future when you introduce people to your father, you can introduce him as "Mr. Doe" instead of "John".

Has your dad given her permission to call him by his first name? If so, then you have nothing to worry about. If not, ask your dad how it makes him feel. Let him know that you will talk to your girlfriend about it, because you want for them to get along.

It depends on how formal your family is.
If your father prefers to be called Mr. Bond
instead of James,
then I would talk to your girl
when you two have a minute alone
and politely explain the situation to her.
I doubt she does it to be rude!
Perhaps she grew up in a family environment
where it was okay to speak casually to her elders.
Or perhaps she was never taught the proper etiquette.
Either way, do not be harsh to her
when the subject comes about.
And if your father doesn't mind,
then perhaps you should just concentrte on the bigger picture.
As they say:
"it's not about winning every battle,
it's about winning the war."

Thats pretty normal in many cultures like the US. Most people call their step parents or in-laws even their bosses by their first name...

If your father did not give your girlfriend permission, talk to her. You writing about it on the internet instead of speaking with her about this is strange.

She was not taught respect from her parents. Tell her to call him whatever you think is appropriate. It is your responsibility to set her right. If you don't complain or comment she will think it's OK.

Did he tell her it was okay? Is this bothering your dad? If it doesn't bother your dad, they you might ask yourself why it bothers you.
