Do not give your baby Pepto without a doctor's OK. Pepto can often cause the opposite problem and you'll have a constipated toddler on your hands, which is not any better. It is not safe to give a baby any kind of medication without a doctor's guidance. The BRAT diet does work, but it stands for Bananas, Rice, Applesauce (not apple juice which can make diarrhea much worse), and Toast (made with white bread is best). The biggest danger of diarrhea is dehydration, offer him water to drink and avoid dairy products for a day or so. It is possible your doctor will recommend pedialyte if the diarrhea continues for several days, but it's not necessary for just a 24 hour bug.

There's an acronym that preschool teachers use around here... BRAT. It stands for Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast. Serving your child these foods when they have a bout of diarrhea will help to stop him up without resorting to medicines. I have used this "formula" with both of my children, as well as offered it to the parents of my preschoolers, and it works great. The starches and fiber act to work as a sort of coagulant... it bonds everything together into a formed excretion. Always ask your child's doctor before giving him any medicine- even over-the-counter stuff.

NO PEPTO! It has aspirin in it!!!
Start the BRAT diet.
B - Bananas
R - Rice
A - Apples (not juice)
T - Toast

It should help to firm it up. It could be a virus so just make sure he is hydrated with pedilyte or gatorade. If it persists call the doctor!

you rather could desire to make certain a doctor. i understand while teething some infants get diarrhoea.as quickly as you have seen a doctor, verify you furnish fluids many times regardless of if its in basic terms some sips.maybe in basic terms peel a vegetable or fruit that has in basic terms slightly juice, like a carrot or some thing so he can chew and suck the juice out. If she or he's teething it will additionally sooth the gums. some docs tell mothers to furnish there newborn colliodol silver (even inspite of the incontrovertible fact that human beings and docs have very different perspectives on that, im uncertain approximately it.) a rehydrate fluid could be terrific if dehydrated.yet see a doctor! toddler may additionally get very aggravated as diarrhoea irritates the bum so lather with barrier cream. Wishing you each and every and all of the terrific.

Doctors won't even prescribe anything for this, only for constipation. Funny how that works.
My doctor said that children rid themselves of sickness through diarrhea and that by stopping the diarrhea, you prolong illness.
Keep your son on the BRAT diet. Bananas, rice, apples, toast. This will help. I would call the doctor if it lasts for more than a couple of days.

All children get it at some point.Could be from drinking too much juice,or eating too much greasy foods.Possibly he could just have tummy flu..you can feed him a banana, that tends to make the stools less runny(but dont over do it) If he still has the problem in next day or two or develops a fever call your doctor..

The best answer would be to call your pediatrician. In the meantime, pedialyte is best, to keep him hydrated. If it continues for 24 hours, his doctor should see him, anyway. Over-the-counter medicines are not wise for children that young, unless prescribed by a doctor. Always read the label on ANY medicines before even considering them for children!

HI hun, the best natural thing for daihhrea, for anyone, is the BRATT diet. My dr told us about it years ago.

Bananas
Rice
Applesauce
Tea
Toast

These particular foods are easy to digest and help to "harden" things up a bit. The caffeine in the tea helps to settle the tummy. Hope he starts feeling better soon!

No! Go to your baby' physician. Never try to give your baby adult medicine! Only if his doctor says so. Just try to avoid giving your child anything that would add to the diarrhea...
