Wasn't Peter the rock?
First Corinthians I believe was Paul.
If I'm not mistaken Paul was also rather hostile to the "Christians" at first.
Jesus gave some credibility to the Fornication part, when he said to "avoid fornication all men should marry."
The fornication issue (sex outside of marriage) is a cornerstone in a majority of the world's religions. The only belief systems that approve of it are Paganism and Satanism. In the real world, however, I tend to think most religious people and most who go to church have been or are fornicators. Most religions seem to take a don't ask don't tell type approach to it.
Your point, however, is well taken. I've been asking that question rhetorically for ages: Is Jesus a get out of jail free card. Once you accept Jesus does that give you to right to sin without worry? Most people say no, but then ask them to put their hands on the Bible and say for the record they were virgins when they got married or are virigins and you often watch them smile and do a fast segue.
I believe there are definate two forms of homosexuality. In one form the person knows or adopts the motiff by the age of 5. You don't have any sexual appetite or desires at 5. It's a social think or an affinity.
The second type come at an older age when you can't, for a variety of reasons, pair with the opposite sex so you do whatever it takes for gratification.
Gratification, if anything, is wrong or sinful, for either homosexual or heterosexual.
People don't get gratification from being with a person, but from doing things intimately.
We have to face reality that religions without moral codes, standards, etc., aren't going to be very religious!
We see some religions prey on young girls. Some religions, some claiming to be Christians, say it's ok to marry 14 year old girls. Pretty soon it will be 13, then 12.
Pretty soon people who like to tell lies or untruths will want their pratises legitimized. Then we come to petty theifs. People who committ fraud. The Enron people. They abscoun with millions and leave a wake of destoryed financially employees and customers, but they want to get into heaven just the same!
There is also an element in some religions called predestination. Does God create homosexuals and if so is it for a reason and if so do we have the right to question God!
Are predestined people to be denied access to heaven. I mean free will wasn't involved. How can a 5 year old make a free will choice regarding orientation!
Jesus was out to reform the Jewish church and I think that was what he encharged to Peter or Paul, that they found a church based upon his edicts.
Love your neighbor like you love yourself. You have no choice in your neighbor! Did one disciple speak out and say: But Jesus, the man across from my parents raises fighting roosters and takes wagers on them. You can't expect them to love him, can you! Not one disciple sited an objection or asked for a clarification.
Love your enemy the most.
Judge least ye be judged! He among you without sins cast the first stone. My there must be a lot of saints in the world today!
But Jesus also said go and sin no more.
The church that Peter, Paul and John founded (and one also has to look closely at Constantine who really turned that church into a power and see what he did and why) simply changed the rules and laws. They didn't amend them or make them less harsh. I don't truly think most any Christian church is founded on the concepts of what Jesus was trying to do, although there are some liberal churchs such as the Angelicans which are oraining homosexual and women Bishops (another thing in Corinthians was that Women are NOT to speak in the church!).
What you ARE is one thing, what you DO in life is another.
Does predestination give a get out of jail free card? Does Jesus give a get out of jail free card?
It is ultimately said names will or will not be in the book of life. The mark of the beast and who you pledge allegiance too and follow (false prophets) and how you conduct your life may or will all be factors in this event.
There are no warranties.
People should probably not do things to get a reward, such as getting into heaven. They should do things because deep down inside they know it is the correct thing to do!

You are right on most aspects. Those sins mentioned in 1 Corinthians will prevent you from going to heaven. A couple of things you got wrong. Effeminate in the Bible is not the same as it is today. Consider the words it was translated from: Malakos is listed among other vices in the New Testament book of 1 Corinthians. 6:9. Translations use different terms to express this: "The JB (1966) chooses 'catamite,' the NAB (1970) renders arsenokoités and malakos together as 'sodomite,' others translate malakos as 'male prostitute' (NIV 1973, NRSV 1989), and again some combine both terms and offer the modern medicalised categories of sexual, or particularly homosexual, 'perversion' (RSV 1946, TEV 1966, NEB 1970, REB 1992)." (Martin, 1996). The word malakos, #3120 in the Greek Dictionary of The New Testament of James Strong's Exhaustive Concordance to The Bible translates: "of uncertain affinity". It means someone who is much worse off than "straight guys who sing in the choir". It refers to sexual perversion, not mannerisms. Concerning divorce/remarriage, you are partially correct. If you are divorce for any reason other than Adultery (which is the part you left out), you must remain celibate and single. If you are the innocent party in a marriage that ends in divorce due to adultery, you are free to remarry. Only the innocent person may remarry. Fortunately, if you are guilty of any of these sins, you can repent (turn away) from the sins and have the hope of eternal life.

Amen, Jim.
But the text doesn't say "fornicators" or "homosexuals" or "sodomites" (what a God awful translation you're using!). First of all, "fornicators" is literally "those given to 'porneia.'" What does 'porneia' mean? "Homosexuals" is "malakoi" -- what does that mean? "Sodomites" is "arsenikotoi" -- what does that mean? (And BTW, the sin of sodom was inhospitality.) We've got three Greek terms translated in a way that transmits a clear meaning to modern readers that *was not the meaning of the original text.* "Porneia" is "sexual immorality," not "fornication." So what's sexually immoral? As for "malakoi" and "arsenikotoi," no one really knows what they meant. It's been suggested by some scholars, on good grounds, that they refer to male prostitution.
It can't be said often enough: in NT times, *there was no concept of sexual orientation,* and therefore *there was no discussion, much less condemnation of homosexuality as we now understand it.* Repeat 10 times after me.
See Countryman, "Dirt, Greed, and Sex", chapter 6, "Paul and Purity." The OT is another ball of wax, but as many people have observed, the proscriptions against homosexual intercourse are nested among proscriptions against weaving cloth of cotton and wool, or mixing plants in fields. We ignore those proscriptions, so why not also ignore the one against homosexual intercourse? It's OT *purity law,* and you have to understand the worldview it was coming from. Read Countryman, chapters 1-3.

The Apostle Peter acknowledged Paul and gave no reason to believe Paul was a liar or deceiver - he did indicate that people manipulate what he says - pretty much like you do, and some churches, who assume they see a bigger picture than what Paul lays out plainly.
They take matters out of context being led by the flesh instead of the Spirit. I might also add, that Jesus appointed Paul as evangelist to the Gentiles.

Remember Jesus spoke only truth, to his disciples, to the multitudes, to all who wanted to hear the truth. Jesus was telling Paul to spread the truth which Jesus taught him that God is real and to follow God's laws which includes 1 Cor 6:9 that what is written there are sins, and if you are doing them now in your life or have done them in your life. STOP NOW, and ask for forgiveness, they are sins you will not be entering heaven if you keep it up. Then as far as Paul, he was as so was the other 11 disciples to go and tell others of what they were taught, and what they were shown. His faith was so strong, his love so strong Jesus knew he (Paul) would be the start of the Christian Church.

Paul was a charlatan who twisted around all the good things Jesus said to fit into a narrow minded, intolerant mentality. His writings should be dismissed entirely as they completely contradict the peaceful ideas of Jesus.
Hey, look at that I stood up for Jesus. Paul sucks.

I would hope that being homosexual isn't a reason to be kept out of heaven. It does say that, but then the bible also says that all sins will be forgiven. Although I'm still not understanding why homosexuality is a sin. I'm not gay, but surely it isn't something that you choose to be. Your heart wants what it wants and God gave you that heart, so how can he be mad.

Paul had the approval of all the Church Elders (Apostles)''
"What if" questions are rarely valid.
Remember Paul is talking about the action NOT the Person. All sexual activity outside of marriage is wrong.

You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (NKJ, Leviticus 18:22)
If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them. (NKJ, Leviticus 20:13)
both of those scriptures are from the Old Testament, so not only Paul talks about that subject
