First I would clean the area with warm water and peroxide, then rinse well with more warm water.
Next I would take my scissors and cut away all the hair next to the wound (about an inch round circle).
This is because even if the wound is healing, if a hair gets in there can cause festering issues.
Then I would get Tea Tree Oil (you can buy it at WalMart for about $6) and using a cotton ball swab the area several times a day.
Dogs do not like Tea Tree Oil and it will prevent licking.
Repeat the whole procedure as needed.
Good Luck!

First of all, don't use any more peroxide. It is good for the first cleaning, but it does tend to kill off the goods cells with the bad. It is good that the dog is licking his/her wound. It helps to keep it clean and helps it to heal. I don't know about any vets in the Dallas area, but you do need to find one. If there is pus, there is infection. The doctor will probably give oral antibiotics, however they will most likely NOT stitch up the wound. It will heal better if not stitched.

Peroxide actually inhibits healing. Soap and water is fine to clean it and neosporin. He will lick to try to heal himself but many times it creates more damage to the tissue. Petsmart has bellie band and its a sticky ace type bandage that you may be able to wrap around him so he can't lick it. It would be in first aid area and its also used at vet offices when they put IV's in animals.

Use a bandage (human will be ok) just to stop him licking it, and if it doesn't scab or start to heal after a few days, apply antibiotic cream to the area twice a day, and if that doesn't work then take him to a vet.

Keep cleaning it But dogs will lick wounds it is their nature, That is why when a dog gets fixed or stitches they put those funny colars on them. See if you can stop him from licking it. So it can heal.
