what guage of wire would i need to power a 500 W RMS mono bass amp?

no less then 8 ga, but i would go with 4 just to be safe. also go with 4 cause later you might want to upgrade your amp.

10 guage would work fine, but if you want you can use 8 or bigger. no matter what size wire you use, your real size is going to be the little connection to the amp. you cant make that any bigger.

Total up the number of (amps on the) fuses of the amplifiers at the end of the cable and....

i woulkd just put the largest your amp can take , probably 4 guage

8AWG. Anything bigger is overkill. You can actually get away with 10, but I believe 8 is more common and easier to get a hold of.
