Exercise + healthy lifestyle/exercise (no smoking, eating well, getting decent sleep, etc) = helps prevention of cardio/pulmonary problems, studies show can help prevent cancer, less incidence of adult onset diabetes, less chance of skeleto/musculo problems, etc. Also increases chances for longer, healthier lifespan.

If u eat lots of food...u tend to gain weight etc...and once u gain the weight...its damn difficult to lose it again ....so if u dont hog food like a pig (prevention)....u dont need to suffer overweight (cure)
