Cars are about the easiest thing on earth to go in debt for! Most of us can just sign our names and be committed for five to seven years.

Many people take the “hit” and trade in their old car just to avoid the hassle of selling it themselves. If your old car has a value, you can put a prise on the windshield, and someone will buy it. Eventually. Don't wast your time putting “for sale”, just put a price. Weeds out a lot of people. Prise it too high and you will never sell it, price it too low and it will sell in hours. Be prepared to be offered a lot less than you are asking. Have some credit forms for people to fill out.

I use to think two old cars were better than one new one. Drive one while the other is being worked on. Then insurance rates quadrupled and it is hardly worth it.

If the old car is worthless, selling it for $1 on ebay would be better than paying for having it towed. If its not completely worthless, you could try selling a few of the parts.

I would give my old one to a poor family that does not have a car so they can get back and fourth to work or take the kids to the doctors etc

i burnt my first one....drowned my second one....sold the third one.... and crashed the fourth into a police van!!!
