They always have to argument that as the craving inc., they turn into rapist, well, let me tell you, this is not true. Watching porn helps us go the opposite way. It teaches us how to be a gentleman by controling our urges in front of a women.(b/c we are now used to seeing them in all sorts of positions). Thats how I gained my dignity and self respect. I am not the guy who would get a girl drunk just have sex w/ her anymore.

Watching porn is not a sin, period! While committing adultery is a sin, thinking about it (or any other sin) is not. It is only acting upon our desires that leads us to sin. In Christian doctrine this is known as continence, which means being able to control your urges. Pornography is an outlet to allow a person not to engage in pre-marital sex (which some consider a sin), so it actually is a safety net not to act on unholy impulses with inappropriate partners. In the end, the Bible was written by a group of men, who had an interpretation of what they thought God's word might be. One should read the Bible as literature, not as a guidebook for good-living. Read the Old Testament (which Christians usually skim over) and you will see how the Bible helped people to cope with everyday situations thousands of years ago. You should look at the Bible as way to understand their culture, but not use it to determine the way you act. Critical interpretation and analysis (aka exegesis) of the Bible by all readers is extremely important to us for determining our own moral yardsticks. Do net let Church doctrine dictate what to think, feel, or do. Read, interpret, engage in dialogue with others, and then make your own decisions on how to live in complete serenity with other you fellow man. If watching porn keeps you sane, then go with it -- just as long as you don't get addicted to it! That would be complete INCONTINENCE!

What are the consequences of sexual infidelity in a Hebrew tribal culture where wealth and property pass to the offspring? Where there is no cure for sexually transmitted disease? Where jealousy and infidelity provoke violence and feuding between entier tribes for generations? Now add to that the Greek notions that matter is corrupt and thus the flesh is corrupt, and the way to immortality is to put off the corruption of flesh and become pristine spirit. And there you have the Paulianity that most Christians are plagued with today: ancient Hebrew tribal taboos that once had a practical point combined with ancient Greek metaphysical stupidity that was pointless then and still is.

This is not to say that I think the effects of pornography are either emotionally or socially neutral in all degrees, but that's not a religious discussion.

The idea is that porn exposes what is often - and in the Christian viewpoint, should always be - something private and sacred and unique to the individuals, into a spectator sport which often degrades the participants and on a very low level the watcher. There's also the idea that masturbation to climax defiles one of God's greatest gifts to humanity for the pursuit of simple, unshared pleasure.

Don't believe this myself, but these are some of the ideas behind the categorisation of porn-watching as a sin within the Christian mindset.

Christianity laid aside for a moment I will answer this question as a mother. I would not appreciate someone doping my daughter so she would be more willing to participate in these acts. Getting a girl hooked on drugs just to make you money is not a thing I would want for my daughter. You can say all you want that it will not hurt you, so said the man that watched it and said he could control it. He raped his own daughter then committed suicide. Yahoo this is the way to go. Remember what goes around comes around, hope you don't have a daughter this happens to. This is how you gained your disgust for women also.

Watching a porn is considered a sin not only in christianity but also in islamic religion.Watching a porn is an act that is approaching to adultery.Adultery is forbidden spoken in our holy book Al Qur'an.Watching a porn is only one step a head before someone will make an adultery. The desires of its onlookers will increase after watching and it will attract satans to invite them for an adultery. If you read on a daily news paper or if you hear on Tv you will know that someone who raped his neighbour little girl,he said he saw a porn picture and he could not control his desires himself. So there is a responsibilty of our parents to avoid their children to watch a porn.

First of all porn is disgusting, why anybody would want to watch it is beyond me. Second of all sex is for marriage and was ment to be a private affair between a man and a woman, and not something to be put on display. Thats what is wrong with the world today, because alot of people want to put everything they got and show it off to the whole world. (singers, movie stars etc.) There is nothing private anymore!

I would like to differ with you that is BULL CRAP..I was addicted to porn before I became a Christian and I know that it VILE, oh yes I use to think it was no problem, and wouldn't have considered it as sinning either, but when my spirit eyes were open I saw it in a different light and it is sinful, it is self indulgent Lets not forget the victims of child porn, and not to mention to behind the scenes of the porn "stars" themselves, most of them have to take drugs just to cope with the pain they are causing in their own lives and spirits. Porn can and does destroy lives whether or not you believe it. Oh yeah also the porn "stars" who do it with animals you don't see that as a problem?

Wow, it made you gain self respect b/c you're now use to seeing them in all sorts of positions!? You really are a loser. I'm not even christian and I find watching porn to be pathetic and perverted. oh and 97% of rapist, Molesters, and Murderers are addicted to porn. That's too big of a coincidence for me. I think I'll just ignore men like you and stick with my man, he respects women without having to watch that filth, in fact he respects me more by not watching it. Get a life!

Well sir, different religions have different beliefs. This should tell everyone that the idea in itself is kind of dumb. But the differences cause an inherent battle among religions of 'you are wrong' and no matter what is presented that will always be the case. Bottom line.. anything fun to do is usually a sin.. just pray for forgiveness after you do it and you'll be covered.
