Question about terrorist.?

If terrorist do not wear a uniform ,how can you tell if a dead person is a civilian or a terrorist fighter?
Do you think the terrorist will tell you the truth?

most of you have giving great answers but a few well you know

Terrorist are civilians. They murder, cheat and steal. Whatever will help their cause. Most have a distorted sence of pride in doing their bad deeds. It doesn't matter if we can tell if they are dead, just as long as they are dead.

I understand that we up here in Canada have different doctrine, procedures and rules of engagement, but that we well summed-up. If we shot everything that carries a weapon in Afghanistan, we'd be wrecking more than one celebration, since in Middle-Eastern and South-West Asian countries it's customary to fire guns into the air when celebrating. So if i was to open up on an old pickup doing donuts while you got a half-dozen guys in the back firing AK's skywards, I would be wrong.

But the moment there is a threat present. Say, if that pickup truck with the guys firing their guns was storming right towrds me, I'd be more than justified in opening up.

And as for telling if they are terrorists after they have been killed, it's fairly simple. If there was a firefight, those who have weapons near them, or are carrying communications equipment, or ammunition, or any other sort of military supplies, stands to reason tha they would be part of the enemy force. If they are in what would be considered a good firing position. Or if you were fired upon and you returned fire, you and your unit would probably have picked out who the bad guys are, even if they are stripped of weapons and ammo when whatever's left of the enemy is withdrawing.

Also, they train us to recognize behaviour patterns that are signatures of terrorsit activities. A short conversation on a cell phone followed by a guy going at a dead run towards you or something that might look like a target, that's typical for a bomb attack. Streets that look like a ghost town in borad daylight, that's a clear-cut indication of an ambush. The list goes on and on. Soldiers today are extremely well-trained professionals, and the archetype of the dumb guy who's to dumb to get a job on the civvy streets and then joins the military doesn't hold anymore.

As for telling the truth, I would think that hte only thing a terrorist would lie about is his cell. He would strive to protect what's left of his mates, right. Otherwise, if he's captured and it's clear that we know he's one of them, he'll admit to it and, if he is an extremeist, probably say something along the lines of "I wish it had worked, so I'd be in my version of heaven and the lot of you in hell."

That's the point of not wearing a uniform. It's called guerilla warfare. And no, they probably wouldn't tell you the truth of whether they were in fact a terrorist.

Well no one is going to ask if they are terrorist.

The military does not train to shoot now and ask later. If we have to fire on someone it is because they raised a weapon to us or put us in some sort of harm...
