yes it stopped working and all I had were side effect. I had trouble sleeping and it was not longer working for depression. When I stopped it too 3 tires. Look on a goggle search. They call it discontinuation syndrome, but it feels like withdrawal to the person who is experiencing it. I was vomiting, having diarrhoea and terribly anxious when I went off it. I could not stand how horrible the vomiting was so that is why I kept going back on it. I had to tuff it out the last time. I went to the hospital for IV fluid replacement all times because I got so dehydrated. It was horrible. I have since been on Celexa and Lexipro and Wellburtin and had not problems.
Search google and look for more info on paxil you will find many case reports of people having this problem and many others. Some people describe having a feeling of explosions in their heads. It has happened with some people with Effexor as well. It is said to be thought it might happen with Cymbalta an new one as well.

YES!!!!!!!!!! Horrible. But we didn't know why I was having the symptoms, didn't relate it to the Paxil. Now we know that was it. Lost about 2 months of my life to it. Buzzing like a shock in my head, nausea, feeling of loss of control, dizziness. I was going to switch to Zoloft but got so "sick" couldn't start the Zoloft. Had ENG, MRI and was hospitalized. Neurologist came to the conclusion that I had damage to my eighth cranial nerve. Ha ha. Never connected it to withdrawal. We never even considered anything to do with the medication. Now, looking back, I see that I had all the classic symptoms. They just put me on tranquilizers to keep me calm and sleeping. Took about two months for it to ease up enough that I could begin to function again. Then about a month later, the symptoms started to return for about a week, and then they eased up and stopped completely. I eventually got on the Zoloft, but it didn't quite stop the anxiety I had like the Paxil. So, I went back on the Paxil after it was approved to use higher doses. After about a year of being back on it, I found out about the withdrawals symptoms and made the connection. That was about 4 years ago and I am still on Paxil. I would try a different medication, but am too afraid of the withdrawal process, so I am stuck for life. I wish you luck if you are trying to get off of it. I have heard that it can be done if you wean off very very gradually, that they even make drops of it so you can go down to as low as .5 and lower before stopping completely.

When I was taken off this I sudden rediscovered my sex-life. This was great! The downside was a swing back to some of the discomfort I felt about being in public places. This was managable and passed after a couple of weeks. Paxil got me through some bad times but I'm glad I am off it now.

Never just stop taking your meds.
You have to slowly ween yourself off of them.
Stopping cold turkey, will cause tremors, stomach sickness, headaches, foul mood and more.
Good Luck.
