Raisins are high in potassium and several other nutrients. The fructose in raisins can certainly cause the type of effect that you describe. They also have a small degree of fiber but this is probably not responsible for the laxative affect. They're good for you but fresh fruit is always better and manufacturers may add other ingredients to the packaged raisins

Pretty much all dried fruit eaten in enough quantity has a laxative effect. Also, eaten in moderation, all dried fruit is good for you, but it is easy to eat too many. There's a lot of condensed fruit sugars packed into those things.
