I live in South Africa and believe me we hear and see HIV stuff on TV everyday. I recently read a statistic that about 11.4% of South-Africa is HIV positive and just last night on TV they estimated that about 2 million SA people don't know they are positive or think that they are at risk. Be thankfull that your country seem to have it more under control.

Aids is the most common disease in this day and age. Cancer use to be the most spreading disease. It still is but aids is taking over our cultures, families, societies, and young people. It's more popular that between the ages of 16-26 that young people are being affected more and more everyday. Maybe you don't get out much. But aids has affected over millions of peoples lives and is an rampage throughout the many people we love and care for. It's such and uncuriable disease. I also read that since 1996 aids has impacted from 7,000 to over 3,000,000+ of today. So the world is on the verge of being infected with the incuriable disease. There is hope. The most common way to be cured of this disease is to be abstinant in sexual activities which mainly states the prevention will help out so much by being abstinant before marriage. America has not been talking about it because not too many people are owning up to the truth about it. So be smart. Like the commercial say "wrap it up, be safe, love yourself". Not even protecting yourself with lubrications will protect you from aids or any other life threatening disease. Read the wrappings on the lubrications. It says that it only protects against pregnancy, and etc. But just do a research on it. Because ya just might find out more than I informed you on.

We hear alot about it. There is an ad on TV that says aids has killed (just children) that would fill all the elementary schools in New York City, Chicago, Miami, and many more, but I can't remember. Like I said, that is just children who have gotten it from their mothers. Just use your search engine and type in aids and how many it has killed. Kadee.

Unfortunately HIV infection is still widespread and in countries such as those in sub saharan Africa it is endemic. The problem you are seeing is journalist apathy. HIV is old news and so it does not get reported. (which paper would peport "HIV still a problem" any more than "Elvis still dead"). We have to keep spreading the message about HIV and AIDS or the consequences will be dire.

No, they're trying to control it, but its still just as big - maybe not in countries educated on the issue, but in Africa. Plus its old news, now its all about the Avian Flu.
