the outer layer of teeth is called enamel, the innermost part of the teeth is called pulp and contains nerves. Also when you have pain in your ears or jaws it radiates down the nerves and makes it feel like the opposite is actually hurting. The body is an interesting thing.

I could be wrong but you do have nerves in your teeth. That is where the pain is coming from.

Because the root of UR tooth in UR jaw bone is extremely sensitive.
Remember when U were Younger & U could feel with UR bite?
Look after UR teeth & they'll look after U!

Your "teeth" dont feel the pain...
Its the roots under them, that feel the throbbing sensation when you have tooth decay.
And tooth decay happens in the "dentin", I believe, and thats right under the crown of the tooth, where its soft and the nerves in the "roots" get infected, so they want to expand as all infected blood vessels do, and there is no place to expand, so, it starts to throb as blood rushes to the nerve endings and blood vesssels under the tooth...
(This is only my explanation that I can rationalize to myself, being a layman, and not a dentist...
they wont even let me play one on TV!! Sheesh!)..
I wish you well..
