if put a dog and a cat together why would the dog chase the cat?

Sincerely, I don't know.
But I know one thing, each time my poodle sees a cat, she automatically runs after him.
I'm sure there is a reason but I don't know it.

Dogs chase cats because cats run. Except in my dog's case. Cats chase her . . . because she runs. I'm so ashamed!!

Not all dogs do. But the dogs who were bred to be hunting dogs tend to chase smaller animals such as cats due to instinct.

My vet has a cat at his office. It doesn't run. My dog doesn't chase it.

actually dogs don't catch cats.. its just that dogs are very playfull that it looks like they catch cats and not play with them.
